Winery Review: Alluring, easy-drinking Zin with vivid California flavors of fruit and spice, made for everyday enjoyment.Peppery characteristic creates distinctive, complex flavor profile.Sourced from ‘old vines’ in Amador County and cooler vineyards in Paso Robles and Sonoma, our Zinfandel has exceptional depth and complexity. Petite Sirah is blended in to further enhance the luscious strawberry jam, cassis and briar flavors that follow its perfume of dark fruit, sweet spice and toasty vanilla.- 85
My review: While smelling this wine, I think I smell blackberry and possibly some spice. When tasting the wine I can taste a little spice, as detected from the aroma. I think that the spice may be tobacco flavored. I also think I can taste plum or some kind of fruity taste, possibly strawberry. I like this wine a lot. I think it is pretty smooth for such a dark red wine. Before recently, I had thought Zinfandel was only a pink colored wine that I did not like, but upon going to a wine tasting and trying another red Zinfandel, along with this one, I have come to realize I like zinfandel a lot. Yum! I was excited to see that I got the strawberry taste like the review did, as well as detecting spice. I did not detect cassis and briar flavors nor did I detect a toasty vanilla. I also read the back of the bottle and they said cherries plum, spicy oak, pepper, and anise flavors. I was excited I got both cherry and plum and spice. I could detect the oak after retasting after reading the back of the bottle.
I did not try this wine with any food.
